OCXO Supplier in Scandinavia: How to Choose an Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator

An oven controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) is the standard choice when a design needs a stable, low phase noise frequency reference. Choosing the right OCXO, and the right supplier, saves time in development and avoids surprises in production. This guide covers what to check and how we support engineering teams in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
What is an OCXO?
An OCXO keeps its quartz crystal inside a small temperature-controlled oven. Because the crystal stays at a constant temperature, frequency drift from changes in ambient temperature is largely removed. New to the technology? Read What is an OCXO? and OCXO vs TCXO.
What to check when choosing an OCXO oscillator
- Frequency: 10 MHz is the most common reference frequency, but other values are available.
- Stability over temperature: the tolerance across your operating range.
- Ageing: how much the frequency drifts per day and per year.
- Phase noise: critical for RF, radar and telecom. SC-cut crystals usually give the lowest phase noise, see SC-cut vs AT-cut quartz crystals.
- Supply voltage, warm-up time and power: the oven needs power while it heats up.
- Package and output: through-hole or surface mount, sine wave or CMOS output.
Typical OCXO applications
OCXOs are used in telecom and 5G timing, test and measurement, radar and RF systems, aerospace and defence equipment, and as the heart of a GPS disciplined oscillator (GPSDO).
OCXO supplier in Scandinavia
Vikronix supplies OCXOs from HCD Research, Quartzlock and RFX Group, with local support from Malmo. You can browse the OCXO range, open any product for specifications and datasheets, or ask us to recommend a model for your application. We also help with custom frequencies and specifications.
